Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Bigfoot's Hideout ("we," "us"), a vacation rental cabin in Logan, Ohio, collects, uses and shares information through hockingdestinations.com (the "Site"). If you have questions, email hockinghillsrentalinfo@gmail.com.

Information we collect

• Information you give us. If you leave a review, we collect your star ratings, the highlights you choose, your review text, an optional private note, your name, an optional email address, when you stayed and who traveled with you. If you contact us, you send us your name, email or phone number and your message by email.
• Booking information. Reservations and payments are handled by our booking provider, Hospitable, through its booking calendar on the Site. Hospitable collects the details needed to complete your booking, such as your name, contact details, guest count and payment information, under its privacy policy. We receive your reservation and contact details from Hospitable. We never see your full card number.
• Advertising cookies and the Meta Pixel (only if you accept). If you click Accept in our privacy banner, the Meta Pixel by Meta Platforms, Inc. sets cookies and records the pages you view and actions such as clicking Check availability, opening the booking calendar, or sending a contact request, along with your IP address and device and browser information. If you do not accept, the Meta Pixel does not load and nothing is sent to Meta.
• Technical information. Our hosting provider, Netlify, processes standard server logs such as IP address, browser type and pages requested in order to deliver and secure the Site. Pages also load fonts from Google Fonts and a map from OpenStreetMap, which receive your IP address when they deliver that content.

How we use information

• To manage stays, answer questions and provide customer service.
• To collect and respond to guest reviews. With your permission, we may share your review, ratings and first name with last initial on the Site and our social media pages. We do not edit reviews to change their meaning, and we do not offer anything in exchange for a positive review.
• If you accept advertising cookies, to measure and improve our ads and to show ads on Facebook, Instagram and Meta's partner apps to people who visited the Site.
• To keep the Site secure and working, and to meet legal obligations.

How we share information

We share information only with service providers that help us run our business, and as the law requires:

• Hospitable (bookings, payments and guest messaging)
• Netlify (website hosting and review form storage)
• Meta Platforms (advertising measurement, only if you accept the Meta Pixel). Meta may use this data as described in its privacy policy. Under some state laws, this may be considered "selling" or "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
• Google Fonts and OpenStreetMap (fonts and map display)
• Government authorities or others when required by law, or to protect our rights, property or guests

We do not sell your name, email, phone number, review text or payment details.

Your choices

• Advertising cookies. The Meta Pixel is off unless you accept it. You can change your choice at any time with the Your Privacy Choices link at the bottom of every page. Choosing Decline acts as your request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
• Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out and the Meta Pixel will not load.
• Do Not Track. Browsers handle "Do Not Track" signals inconsistently. We do not change how the Site works in response to them, but we honor GPC as described above, and no advertising tracking occurs without your consent.
• Ad settings. You can also manage ad preferences in your Facebook and Instagram account settings.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and other states, you may have the right to know what personal information we have about you, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale, sharing or use for targeted advertising. California residents may also review and request changes to the personal information we collect online. To make a request, email hockinghillsrentalinfo@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy request." We will verify your request using information we already have, respond within the time the law requires, and will not treat you differently for using your rights. You may use an authorized agent, and if we deny your request you may appeal by replying to our response.

How long we keep information

We keep booking and guest records for as long as needed to host you and to meet tax and legal requirements. We keep reviews while they are useful for our guests and our business, or until you ask us to remove them. Meta Pixel data is kept by Meta under its policies.

Security

We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect information. No website or online service is completely secure.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Reservations must be made by an adult.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will also show a notice on the Site.
